‘Bonking’ is, or at least should be, on any Santa Fe rider’s mind…

Especially so given our combination of dry air, sun intensity, wind, and altitude. Of course we’ve all heard we should drink, ‘before you get thirsty’. But equally important is what we drink, water alone doesn’t work so well on serious rides. And, we should eat, too. Because as it turns out, there are two distinct forms of a ride ‘bonk’ and each needs to be treated differently. A recent column in ‘Total Women’s Cycling’ reviews these issues with a Doctor specializing in nutrition science. And yes, there is a pitch to buy her products at the end but the information she shares is detailed, straight-up, and we think, important for all Santa Fe bicyclists given the beautiful but demanding environment we enjoy in Santa Fe.
